What are my options with a house full of furniture?
I'm selling my house and need to decide what to do with all my furniture. I will not be buying a new house for a while as I am in employment provided rented accommodation. I have several large items - sofas, table, bed, white goods as well as many boxes of general clutter. Storage isn't an option as it works out as costing more than the goods are worth over the period I'd need storage for. I have no family or friends who require any of this furniture. I am unable to sell the furniture as I cannot be home long enough for collection. What can I do with it?

- Bonfire springs to mind 'Give it to charity - they'll collect it at a mutually agreeable time
- Call a thrift store and they will pick it up. You can take a donation for the value of the furniture on your taxes.
- Give it to a housing charity or homeless shelter. Or take it down the tip.
- Get in touch with the Salvation Army, they will collect
- I suggest getting in touch with an auction place. They will come and take the furniture and give you the option to take a percentage of the sale or settle for a rate upfront. You could also donate it if you aren't in need of money.
- Donate it or call an estate specialist. Or you could try to sell it to the person buying your house.
- try to sell it with the house, but make sure it is not a give away. Negotiate it after negotiating house price.
- go to work and i will help you.
- Have a house contents sale and put posters in the local shops, community centre etc. Use large colourful cardboard tags to indicate price and which items are for sale. Be realistic with your prices or put "make an offer for me"
- Perhaps you can contact a reputable 'estate seller' in your area to handle the sale of goods you no longer want or require. Used a service in Wisconsin when a maiden aunt died and was very pleased with the results.
- i`m sure there is a charity who would be only too happy to take these items of your hands. try contacting your local council, they would know. you`ve racked up some points today! crikey!!
- give it all to a charity that will help someone that can not afford these kind of items. phone a charity collection place up say I have this but little time so when can you come and get it as I need to get rid of it all know.
- contact a church or the american red cross they usually find fire or flood victims that can use it and will probably make arrangements to pick it up
- go to http://uk.freecycle.org/ give it away, let people collect.....
