When restaining furniture is it better to use a plain stain or one that is a combination stain and finishing?
I have several pieces of stained furniture that have been damaged by different things sitting on them and ruining the finishes. I want to try to finish them to look like the original finish but have not been very successful. Any suggestions as to what to do will be appreciated.

- Best to use regular stain. Then apply finish after. You cant really just touch up spots. Generally you strip the finish off the top, re-stain then apply finish.
